Wendy’s Frosty Taste-A-Like Protein Shake

Here to share a fun recipe with you all.

I’m sure you have all had a Wendy’s chocolate frosty on an occasion or two (I know I have) But…we all know they aren’t the best for our health.

Wouldn’t you like to enjoy a protein and nutrition packed version that gives you a boost of energy instead of a sugar spike and unhealthy crash?

That’s what I have here for you today!

What you will need

  • Sunwarrior plant based protein powder ( I used vanilla but chocolate would be great too) SO IMPORTANT. This is the BEST protein powder I have ever tasted. It is not chalky, gritty nor does it have whey in it which hurts my tummy!
  • 1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 cup of water (or instead of almond milk just sub 2 cups of cold water)
  • 2 tbsps of PB & Me powdered peanut butter (Low calorie, high in protein and vegan)
  • 1 tbsp of cacao powder
  • 2 small frozen bananas (ripe)
  • Ice
  • Optional add ins: pitted dates (1 or 2) cacao nibs or anything that you fancy!

Blend blend blend and enjoy!

Cozy Autumn Oats

Hope you are doing well.

I put together a pretty simple breakfast for Brent and myself yesterday and thought you would all love it too. This is dairy free and incredibly filling. It can also be made gluten free if you find those fancy pants gluten free oats 😉 The reason I like to add steel cut oats into the mix is that steel cut oats do not seem to spike my blood sugar as much as your regular quick cooking oats do. Therefore I mix the two when I can. This is the perfect start to your day, especially with the colder weather creeping back in.

Cozy Autumn Oats

Serves 2-3

Ingredients – what you will need

1 cup Quick cooking oats

1 cup Steel cut oats

2 cups unsweetened vanilla almond milk

2 cups water

2 Pears

1 Large apple or 2 smaller apples

1 heaping tbsp cinnamon

half heaping tbsp nut meg

pinch of cinnamon/nutmeg in the oats while cooking

pinch of pink salt

1-2 tbsp pure/high quality maple syrup

Cooking Instructions

Start by cutting up your fruit into bite sized pieces and add to a sauce pan along with the cinnamon, nutmeg and maple syrup. Cook on low/medium and allow it to simmer while stirring occassionally. The longer you cook this the more it will reduce down – so feel free to do this for as long as you like. I enjoyed it chunky on top of and throughout my oats.

Meanwhile add your oats, almond milk, pinch of cinnamon, nutmeg, water and salt to a sauce pan and stir continuously on low/medium heat until super thick and creamy

Serve your oats in two bowls, top with the warm fruit and a little more maple syrup and cinnamon on top if you wish! Yum! This actually was divided into 3 meals as Brent could not finish all of his! Yep…that’s how filling it was.

Stir, stir, stir, until super thick and creamy. Yum.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 22 – Wild Blueberry Smoothie

Tuesday was the 22 day of my Medical Medium Recipe Challenge and I went with the Wild Blueberry smoothie. Smoothies are so simple and versatile not to mention incredibly healthy and nourishing. Maybe this is why I have been choosing smoothie recipes above all else!?

Wild blueberries: A true powerhouse full of antioxidants and healing properties. A powerful prebiotic, amazing brain food and liver restorer.

Banana: One of the most nutritional and healing fruits readily available today. They are 76 percent water and full of vitamin C, B6, potassium, copper and manganese. They are a great electrolyte food and good for busy people on the run. They are anti viral and anti fungal . They are a great food choice for those suffering from chronic illness. They are a great food for lowering blood pressure. According to the medical medium ” Bananas should be ripe when eaten which means the peel should be lightly speckled and the fruit has a sweet, creamy taste. Unripe bananas can cause constipation and other adverse reactions”

Lemon: Lemons are a powerful healing fruit containing anti septic, antibiotic and anti-cancer properties. They are rich in vitamin C and B complex minerals. They can help cleanse and detoxify your entire body! It’s a good idea to start your day with a tall glass of fresh lemon juice.

Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 19 – Chili Loaded Baked Potatoes

Today my husband and I spent most of our day doing yard work. This involved raking a massive yard, picking up 1000s and 1000s (literally) of black walnuts, filling the back of the truck with said leaves and walnuts, rinse and repeat. We both were so tired and needed a hearty but healthy dinner after all of that!

Make way for Medical Medium October Recipe Challenge Day 19 – Chili Loaded Baked potatoes.

The chili is loaded with so many different kinds of veggies – it’s delicious and nourishing.

I added a little bit of dill to his cashew sour cream recipe which is why it looks a little different 🙂 This made enough to have left overs for two more days most likely!

Anthony Williams (Medical Medium) feels strongly about the healing powers of the potato! Here’s what he has to say:

” One common misconception is that potatoes are poisonous because they’re nightshades. Potatoes, tomatoes, eggplants, and other edible nightshades do not aggravate conditions such as arthritis; you can put aside the worry that potatoes are inflammatory. Yes…safe to say on my healing journey I have definitely embraced the potato once again and I’m not sorry for it!

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 18- Creamy Chaga Ice Cream

Posting this a bit late! Better late than never. Since yesterday was Friday, i was in a pretty good mood! We all deserve a yummy breakfast especially on Fridays. Thankful that this one was a winner! I adapted Medical Mediums recipe for “Creamy chaga ice cream” and just changed it up a little. You can find this one over on his recipe blog.

Instead of regular almond or coconut milk I used Silk Dark chocolate almond milk and I topped with raw hazelnuts and shredded coconut instead of his suggestions since I didn’t have those on hand!
