Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 30 – Adrenal Snacks, Dates+Apples

Day 30 of my Medical Medium Recipe Challenge was a simple one. Ok so..this isn’t really a “recipe” because it’s just separate ingredients on the plate/bowl lol 🤣 but it’s been an integral part of my daily “diet” routine since June. Almost every day I have some form of this as a snack…apples with dates. Sometimes I will add in chopped celery and almond butter as well if I’m feeling sassy lol Dates have become a staple part of our grocery list. They are great on their own, in cashew creamy sauces and to sweeten smoothies or shakes naturally.

It’s critical for your adrenals/liver and balancing blood sugar to graze on healthy snacks such as this throughout the day.

Ingredients: Dates and apples

Dates:  Dates are an ideal food for improved energy and brain function. They are a good source of vitamin A & B-complex and they are rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and potassium. Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.

Apples: Sweet, delicious, so many varieties and full of immune boosting and disease preventing properties. According to Anthony Williams ” Apples are also an amazing detoxifier and contain both malic and tartaric acids that help remove impurities from the liver and gallbladder”.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 23 – Orange Creamsicle Smoothie

Yesterday was a tired day in our house. The night before my husbands work had called him several times between 10 pm and midnight and so he decided to go in at that time. I could not get back to sleep and was dragging for the rest of the day. This smoothie was just what the doctor ordered!!! I felt exhausted but was good to go after a hot shower, walk outside and this creamsicle smoothie.

Ingredients: Oranges, banana, coconut water, vanilla

Oranges: According to the medical medium “oranges have been called a “perfect food” and contain an amazing array of healing vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and phytonutrients. They are high in vitamin C, vitamin A, B-complex vitamins, folate, beta carotene, lutein, and minerals such as calcium, magnesium, iron, and potassium. 

Oranges have been known to help prevent cancer, lower high blood pressure, fight off viral infections, relieve constipation, keep bones and teeth strong, prevent kidney stones and macular degeneration. Oranges are rich in lime and alkaline salts that help to counteract and prevent acidosis in the body. They are also excellent for the digestive tract and help to remove toxic debris from the colon through enhanced peristaltic action. 

Oranges contain a significant amount of glutathione which is critical for healthy eye and lung function. Oranges are very good for respiratory problems such as asthma or bronchitis and cardiovascular issues such as hypertension and COPD. Oranges act as an internal antiseptic to the body and have the ability to purify and strengthen all the organs in the body. 

Oranges contain anti-inflammatory and anti-viral properties which are particularly beneficial for those suffering with a cold or flu or an auto-immune disorder such as shingles, arthritis, IBS, fibromyalgia, chronic fatigue syndrome, and raynaud’s disease. Unripe bananas can cause constipation and other adverse reactions”

Coconut water: Coconut water is a good source of nutrients, may have antioxidant properties, may have benefits against diabetes, may help prevent kidney stones, may support heart health, may reduce blood pressure, and is a delicious source of hydration!

10 out of 10 again! It’s like sunshine in a cup and would be the perfect hydrating treat on a warm Summers day. Will definitely be enjoying again.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 18- Creamy Chaga Ice Cream

Posting this a bit late! Better late than never. Since yesterday was Friday, i was in a pretty good mood! We all deserve a yummy breakfast especially on Fridays. Thankful that this one was a winner! I adapted Medical Mediums recipe for “Creamy chaga ice cream” and just changed it up a little. You can find this one over on his recipe blog.

Instead of regular almond or coconut milk I used Silk Dark chocolate almond milk and I topped with raw hazelnuts and shredded coconut instead of his suggestions since I didn’t have those on hand!

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 3- Liver Rescue Smoothie

Happy Thursday!

Brrrr it’s starting to REALLY feel like FALL.

I’m not sure if it makes sense that I have been in the mood for smoothies being so cold outside but oh well!

For day 3 of the Medical Medium Recipe Challenge I enjoyed a smoothie that I have drank liberally in the past few months – especially when I was doing the Liver cleanse! Yep…the popular Liver Rescue Smoothie. Medical Medium provides a few different varieties for how to make this one and I usually stick to the same ingredients – bananas, wild blueberries, pitaya powder (or the actual fruit) and water. Easy eh??

This recipe is from the Liver Rescue Book.

This is another simple, filling recipe that does not spike my blood sugar.

This is another solid 10 out of 10 for taste!

Ingredients used: Frozen wild blueberries, 2 frozen bananas, pink pitaya – I use the powder but you can use the real fruit and enough water to get things moving.

The Liver Rescue Smoothie will continue to be a big part of my routine in the months to come!

New Month New Challenge

Hello everyone!

Still feeling a little under the weather with a cold and cough but hey ho!Writing to you today because I have cooked up a new idea for the up coming month of October and I couldn’t be more excited!

I felt great after the Medical Medium 3.6.9 liver cleanse and realize I really need to continually work on including a ton of fruits and veggies as a large part of my diet while striving to keep the fats low and Medical medium teaches us to do that with his wonderful books and recipes.

I have decided that for the month of October, however challenging it may be, that I am going to try one new recipe per day from my Medical Medium book collection. These recipes could be anything from breakfasts to snacks, lunch or dinner. Instead of sharing with you my weekly “what I eat posts” for the month of October instead, I will share with you each day what recipe I picked, how it tastes, how I rate it and what the benefits of the ingredients are healthwise.

So just to recap:

Why Am I doing this: To inspire myself to continually make fruits and veggies as a large part of my meals and nourishment for the days. To continue to reduce my A1C and balance my blood glucose levels naturally and to minimize my PCOS symptoms even further than I already have.

For How long: Every day in October

What I am i hoping to gain? Knowledge of new recipes that I can continually include in my healthy eating “bank”, continue to support healthy blood glucose balance and healthy weight loss, healthy hormone balance, keep the journey fresh, new and exciting as to not get bored.

Potential Pros: Knowledge of new recipes, nutrient dense, different fruits and veggies each day = more vitamins and minerals, healthier A1C, more energy, clear skin, weight loss, feel happier and more positive about my choices.

Potential Cons: Could get expensive getting the ingredients for a new recipe each day, time management, potential days where we will be outside of the home and travelling, not being able to find certain ingredients, more work as far as dishes/housework etc.
