Raw Reset Day 2/5 – Food+Caffeine Withdrawal

Happy Tuesday!

Day two out of five of my raw reset challenge is coming to a close. I have been experiencing some body aches/pains and a headache. I typically only get headaches when I stop consuming caffeine for any period of time so this makes sense. I had the headache last night and a little bit tonight as well. Just trying to consume lots of water to drown it out.

Breakfast

I enjoyed 2-3 cups of the most delicious blueberries along with 1 tbsp each of hemp and chia seeds. I also had a nice large mango.

Lola and I went on a longer 45-50 minute walk today and it was so great because it felt like a Spring day outside. It was very mild and sunny. After the walk I felt ready to be productive and I could feel the happy endorphins rushing through the veins. If I could give you only one weightloss tip or “life” tip in general it would be to get out a walk at least once every day. It really helps to boost the mood, your productivity, overcome fatigue and obviously helps with weightloss as well 🙂

Snack

Today I snacked on 2 tbsp of raw pumpkin seeds and 1 tbsp of sunflower seeds.

Late Lunch

Lunch was a Sunwarrior Protein Shake

  • 2 frozen bananas
  • 2 scoops of the Mocha meal replacement protein powder
  • unsweetened almond milk
  • cacao powder
  • water
  • ice

Snack

Raw date ball with a chai tea and almond milk

These really pack a punch! I take one out of the freezer and allow to thaw just for a little bit before I eat it. They go really well with a warm drink.

Dinner

Dinner today was an extra large salad

  • Lots of broccoli slaw
  • Spinach
  • Raw peppers
  • Cucumbers
  • Pico De Gallo
  • Cashew Dressing
  • Thai peanut dressing

Ended the night with a movie via Disney Plus (Home alone) and a blood glucose check at 6.1 – still very happy with this (2 hours after the date ball, tea and XL salad) It might have been a bit higher than last night due to the date ball 🙂 My aim is usually to stay between 4.5-7.5. I don’t typically share my values but I will so that you can see that my levels have not increased on a high fruit/carb diet.

Raw Reset Day 1/5 – What I ate today

Hello everyone!

Just wrapping up day 1/5 of my first raw reset challenge. This is just a mini challenge to kick things off and so far so good. I had forgot how full and satisfied one could be on just raw food! I was always so stuffed while doing the Medical Medium protocols. I am keeping it pretty simple and basic this week.

Breakfast was a delight!

I enjoyed 2 extra large apples with 1 tbsp of unsalted almond butter and 2 very juicy large oranges. Keeping it simple.

A little later in the day I enjoyed a protein shake/smoothie consisting of

  • 2 bananas
  • 1 cup frozen pineapple
  • half cup frozen cherries
  • 1 cup unsweetened almond milk
  • 1 scoop Sunwarrior vanilla plant based protein powder
  • 1 cup water
  • ice

Dinner was a salad bowl full of broccoli slaw, red pepper, cucumbers, pico de gallo, cashew sour cream and thai peanut sauce.

Not pictured: handful of pumpkin seeds and 2 raw date balls.

Finishing the evening with a peppermint tea! I also had one of these first thing in the morning.

Looking forward to digging into some Non school related reading which I ordered yesterday from Amazon (prime) and recieved it this morning. That was super fast! The two books I ordered are Becoming Supernatural by Joe Dispenza and The Detox Miracle Sourcebook by Dr. Robert Morse. I have listened to Dr. Morse via youtube multiple times and I find what he has to say about health and life in general fascinating!

I took Lola on 3 short walks today and I checked my blood glucose 2 hours after my last meal which came out to a 5.9 which I am very happy with! I will continue to monitor and update daily.

I will be sharing a weight update next week so stay tuned for that as well.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 30 – Adrenal Snacks, Dates+Apples

Day 30 of my Medical Medium Recipe Challenge was a simple one. Ok so..this isn’t really a “recipe” because it’s just separate ingredients on the plate/bowl lol 🤣 but it’s been an integral part of my daily “diet” routine since June. Almost every day I have some form of this as a snack…apples with dates. Sometimes I will add in chopped celery and almond butter as well if I’m feeling sassy lol Dates have become a staple part of our grocery list. They are great on their own, in cashew creamy sauces and to sweeten smoothies or shakes naturally.

It’s critical for your adrenals/liver and balancing blood sugar to graze on healthy snacks such as this throughout the day.

Ingredients: Dates and apples

Dates:  Dates are an ideal food for improved energy and brain function. They are a good source of vitamin A & B-complex and they are rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and potassium. Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.

Apples: Sweet, delicious, so many varieties and full of immune boosting and disease preventing properties. According to Anthony Williams ” Apples are also an amazing detoxifier and contain both malic and tartaric acids that help remove impurities from the liver and gallbladder”.

Simple, sweet, nourishing and beneficial to our adrenals and liver health – 10 out 10 for me! Try an adrenal snack today, you won’t be sorry.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 24 – Apple Pie Smoothie

Warning: Delicious drink up ahead.

I think this had to have been one of my most favourite recipes. 10 out of 10 out of 10…100 times over!

Thursday marked day 24 of my October Medical Medium Recipe Challenge

🍎Apple Pie Smoothie🍏
2 medium apples or 1 very large apple
1 frozen banana
1 date or 1 tbsp maple syrup (I used maple syrup)
1 to 1.5 cup almond milk, coconut milk or water
Pinch of ginger
Cinnamon
Ice

Extras: I added pumpkin pie spice and my inositol powder.

This was like an apple pie in a cup and very healthy to boot!

Bananas: One of the most nutritional and healing fruits readily available today. They are 76 percent water and full of vitamin C, B6, potassium, copper and manganese. They are a great electrolyte food and good for busy people on the run. They are anti viral and anti fungal . They are a great food choice for those suffering from chronic illness. They are a great food for lowering blood pressure. According to the medical medium ” Bananas should be ripe when eaten which means the peel should be lightly speckled and the fruit has a sweet, creamy taste. Unripe bananas can cause constipation and other adverse reactions”

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 16- Pineapple and Ginger Smoothie

What is the best way to raise your vibe on a very chilly, rainy, grey fall day??

How about a delicious smoothie. Like sunshine in a cup!

For my Medical Medium October Recipe Challenge Day 16 I chose a smoothie from his recipe blog. The Pineapple and ginger smoothie. I love ALL of the ingredients so I knew this one would be a winner.

Ingredients: Two ripe mangos, frozen pineapple, ginger, coconut water

Could not be easier!

Mango: According to Anthony Williams (Medical Medium) “Mangos are one of the most popular and nutritionally rich fruits in the world and are often referred to as “The King of the Fruits”. Mangos are an amazing source of vitamins A, C, E, and B-complex as well as health promoting flavonoids such as beta-carotene and alpha-carotene. Coconut water: Coconut water is a good source of nutrients, may have antioxidant properties, may have benefits against diabetes, may help prevent kidney stones, may support heart health, may reduce blood pressure, and is a delicious source of hydration!
