I have shared many transformation Tuesdays on my various social media platforms but perhaps not many here on the blog! And since this is the second last Tuesday of 2019 I thought it would be a good day to share.
Only a few days left in 2019. Good time to reflect!
No…I didnt join a gym in 2019. Probably won’t in 2020 either 😂👍 I don’t have to over exercise or kill myself in the gym to “burn off calories” I did however participate in the occasional Zumba class, took up clogging (really just glorified tap dancing) swam almost daily in the summer and made friends with the sidewalk. 😂
I increased my carbs by a lot….so many beans, potatos and different kinds of fruits. I’ve never eaten so much in my life. My mindset has changed. My relationship to food and life in general has improved. I have let go of a ton of food fears and myths (um, hello fruit I love you). My health continues to improve. It’s the kindest I’ve ever been to my body and self in my life.
I never feel the need, desire or urge to binge or restrict. It’s such a relief. I have noticed that there is still unfortunately an unhealthy diet culture even in the “plant based” community which I seemed to have ventured into on this journey. Very structured, rigid, unforgiving, using disordered eating language and more. 🤦♀️ it’s so easy to get sucked in. I have had a hard time throughout this journey with putting a label on how I have been losing the weight i.e high carb? Low fat? Plant based? Which you will see if you read over my previous blog posts. In the end none of these labels matter. The way I have been improving my life is no better than anyone elses way and doesn’t really need a label. It’s unique to me and that will have to be good enough 🙂 This is what I will continue to share, my journey – messy yet authentic and ever changing.

Despite the unusually warm weather for this time of month (20 degrees today!) I was craving something “fall-ish” due to the beautiful scenery and colours I have been witnessing lately. Nothing better than the taste of pumpkin during the Autumn months.
Thankfully Medical Medium has a recipe for just about every taste and I was excited to find a Pumpkin pie smoothie recipe over on his blog!
Banana: One of the most nutritional and healing fruits readily available today. They are 76 percent water and full of vitamin C, B6, potassium, copper and manganese. They are a great electrolyte food and good for busy people on the run. They are anti viral and anti fungal . They are a great food choice for those suffering from chronic illness. They are a great food for lowering blood pressure. According to the medical medium ” Bananas should be ripe when eaten which means the peel should be lightly speckled and the fruit has a sweet, creamy taste. Unripe bananas can cause constipation and other adverse reactions”
Pumpkin: According to Medical Medium “Pumpkin is packed with antioxidants such as vitamins A, C, E, beta-carotene, and zea-xanthin which can help prevent age-related macular disease. Pumpkin is also a rich source of B-vitamins such as folates, niacin, thiamin, and pantothenic acid and minerals like calcium, potassium, and phosphorus.

Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.
Dates contain anti-inflammatory and anti-infective properties which make it an excellent food for those who suffer with chronic infections and auto-immune disorders. They also help to control heart rate and blood pressure which offers protection against strokes and coronary heart diseases. Dates contain an easily digestible fiber that has been found to help prevent colon, prostate, lung, endometrial, breast, and pancreatic cancers. They are also known to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, relieve constipation, improve anemia, and prevent macular degeneration.
