I’m sure you have all had a Wendy’s chocolate frosty on an occasion or two (I know I have) But…we all know they aren’t the best for our health.
Wouldn’t you like to enjoy a protein and nutrition packed version that gives you a boost of energy instead of a sugar spike and unhealthy crash?
That’s what I have here for you today!
What you will need
Sunwarrior plant based protein powder ( I used vanilla but chocolate would be great too) SO IMPORTANT. This is the BEST protein powder I have ever tasted. It is not chalky, gritty nor does it have whey in it which hurts my tummy!
1 cup of unsweetened almond milk
1 cup of water (or instead of almond milk just sub 2 cups of cold water)
2 tbsps of PB & Me powdered peanut butter (Low calorie, high in protein and vegan)
1 tbsp of cacao powder
2 small frozen bananas (ripe)
Optional add ins:pitted dates (1 or 2) cacao nibs or anything that you fancy!
Time got away from me this weekend due to Thanksgiving get togethers so I am playing catch up!
Yesterday I decided to try another one of the Medical Medium delicious drink recipes. Ginger Limeaid to be exact!
Full of delightful tastes to entice your taste buds.
Ingredients: Lime, ginger, mint leaves, honey and water
Lime: Removes toxins in the body and a good alternative or companion to lemon
Ginger: According to Medical Medium ” Ginger’s antispasmodic properties come from its more than 60 trace minerals, well over 30 amino acids (many of them undiscovered), and more than 500 enzymes and coenzymes all working together to calm reactivity. And as an antiviral, antibacterial, and anti-parasitic, ginger deserves all the accolades it gets for promoting a healthy immune system. Ginger is also ideal for stress assistance, DNA reconstruction, enhancement of your body’s production of B12, and so much more. It will be 100 years before research uncovers how much ginger truly holds. “
Mint: Mint leaves are rich in nutrients, may improve irritable bowel syndrome, may help relieve indigestion, may decrease breast feeding pain and may help to mask bad breath!
Raw Honey: Anti viral, anti fungal, antibacterial, promotes digestive health, boosts immunity, anti inflammatory, potent medicinal properties.
I give this recipe an 8 out of 10. It’s quite tart yet delicious and would be nice to add it to some sparkling water for a refreshing and healthy drink! Cheers!
Is this my first 10 out of 10??? I have to check back to see. But this is definitely a 10 out of 10 for flavour, simplicity and just sheer beauty! Look at that shade of pink!
This is one I found in the Medical Medium Liver Rescue Book. I really enjoyed drinking the hibiscus tea throughout my liver cleanse and so I figured I would enjoy this one. I mean…I was a lemonade addict growing up, catch my drift!?
Ingredients needed: Dried hibiscus, hibiscus tea bags, lemons, raw honey and water.
Hibiscus tea: Hibiscus tea is made from deep red calyxes of the hibiscus flower that is rich in anthocyanins, fruit acids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and bioflavonoids. Hibiscus tea is excellent for boosting the immune system and fighting off infections. Traditionally, hibiscus tea was regarded by the egyptian pharaohs to be royalty’s most important beverage as it was known to improve health and vitality.
The antioxidants found in hibiscus tea are often compared to those in red wine and have been noted for their positive effects on cardiac health including lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These antioxidants also contain powerful anti-cancer properties which have the ability to protect cells and keep them healthy and free from damage.
Hibiscus tea is also known to be beneficial for weight loss, depression, sleep disorders, hypertension, and mood swings. Hibiscus tea also is known to help lower blood pressure, prevent bladder infections, and relieve constipation. Hibiscus has been used for centuries to support liver function and aid in liver disorders such as fatty liver syndrome and jaundice. Hibiscus tea can be consumed either hold or cold.
Lemons: Lemons are a powerful healing fruit containing anti septic, antibiotic and anti-cancer properties. They are rich in vitamin C and B complex minerals. They can help cleanse and detoxify your entire body! It’s a good idea to start your day with a tall glass of fresh lemon juice.
Raw honey: Anti viral, anti fungal, antibacterial, promotes digestive health, boosts immunity, anti inflammatory, potent medicinal properties.
Make a big batch and drink it over the course of 2-3 days or share it with friends!
