Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 8 – Liver Rescue Tea

O.K!! I think I am finally caught up. For my Medical Medium October Recipe Challenge Day 8 – I chose a relatively simple one because we have sorta been “go go go” since getting back from our mini get away.

SO I ended the day the best way that I know how….

A cuppa tea <3

A super healthful, nourishing, cleansing cuppa tea to be exact.

Yep….that would be the Medical Medium Liver Rescue Tea.

He said you can use dried herbs, loose leaf tea or tea bags and thankfully I had tea bags kicking around!

Ingredients: Red Clover, Nettle, Dandelion and burdock root dried herbs, loose leaf tea or tea bags *** Note – I am missing the burdock root!

Red Clover: Red Clover is a wonderful herb that commonly grows in yards and meadows. The red flowers and green leaves are used as an herbal supplement due to their high concentration of minerals and healing benefits. Red Clover is known to soothe the nervous system, assist in balancing hormones, provide relief for bronchial problems, aid in healing infections, help improve fertility, cleanse the lymphatic system, and be a tonic for the digestive tract. Red clover can be used as a delicious tea which can be taken hot or cold with a touch of raw honey.

Nettle: According to the medical medium ” Nettle leaves are a powerful herbal medicine that grow abundantly in the wild. They are rich in chlorophyll and minerals such as iron, chromium, zinc, copper, magnesium, silicon, cobalt, and calcium. Nettles are also high in vitamins A, E, D, C, & K. Nettle tea is a strong immune booster and has the ability to neutralize toxic antigens in the body. 

Nettles also contain a potent anti-inflammatory agent which help to curb the action of cytokines, one of the key components to inflammation in the body. Nettle leaves are also very helpful in preventing chronic headaches, sore throats, sinus infections, and fatigue and are beneficial for diabetics as it is known to lower blood sugar levels. 

Nettles are known to help relief bronchial ailments such as chronic coughing, chest congestion, COPD, and TB. Nettles are also powerful enough to help to eliminate viral and bacterial infections and aid in removing excess fluids in the body by acting as a natural diuretic. Dandelion: Detoxifies the liver and gallbladder

Burdock Root: Burdock root is a medicinal herb and food that has powerful anti-tumor, anti-fungal, anti-inflammatory, and anti-microbial properties. Burdock root is one of the top recommended herbal remedies for cancer due to the belief that it can stop cancer cells from metastasizing and it is one of the star ingredients of the famous natural cancer remedy known as Essiac tea. 

It is also highly beneficial for colds, flu, sore throats, bronchial congestion, ulcers, gallstones, anemia, kidney stones, chicken pox, gout, measles, strep throat, urinary tract infections, bladder infections, hepatitis, and enlarged prostates. I give this comforting tea a 7 out of 10. It has a earthy flavour but highly beneficial and cleansing to the body.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 7 – Hibiscus lemonade

Oh boy…

Do I ever have a treat for you.

Is this my first 10 out of 10??? I have to check back to see. But this is definitely a 10 out of 10 for flavour, simplicity and just sheer beauty! Look at that shade of pink!

This is one I found in the Medical Medium Liver Rescue Book. I really enjoyed drinking the hibiscus tea throughout my liver cleanse and so I figured I would enjoy this one. I mean…I was a lemonade addict growing up, catch my drift!?

Ingredients needed: Dried hibiscus, hibiscus tea bags, lemons, raw honey and water.

Hibiscus tea: Hibiscus tea is made from deep red calyxes of the hibiscus flower that is rich in anthocyanins, fruit acids, vitamins, minerals, amino acids, and bioflavonoids. Hibiscus tea is excellent for boosting the immune system and fighting off infections. Traditionally, hibiscus tea was regarded by the egyptian pharaohs to be royalty’s most important beverage as it was known to improve health and vitality.

The antioxidants found in hibiscus tea are often compared to those in red wine and have been noted for their positive effects on cardiac health including lowering cholesterol and triglyceride levels. These antioxidants also contain powerful anti-cancer properties which have the ability to protect cells and keep them healthy and free from damage.

Hibiscus tea is also known to be beneficial for weight loss, depression, sleep disorders, hypertension, and mood swings. Hibiscus tea also is known to help lower blood pressure, prevent bladder infections, and relieve constipation. Hibiscus has been used for centuries to support liver function and aid in liver disorders such as fatty liver syndrome and jaundice. Hibiscus tea can be consumed either hold or cold. 

Lemons: Lemons are a powerful healing fruit containing anti septic, antibiotic and anti-cancer properties. They are rich in vitamin C and B complex minerals. They can help cleanse and detoxify your entire body! It’s a good idea to start your day with a tall glass of fresh lemon juice.

Raw honey: Anti viral, anti fungal, antibacterial, promotes digestive health, boosts immunity, anti inflammatory, potent medicinal properties.

Make a big batch and drink it over the course of 2-3 days or share it with friends!

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 6 – Chaga Tea Latte

Awhile back as I was making my way through the Medical Medium “Life Changing Foods” Book – I stumbled across the recipe for “Chaga Tea Latte” and thus my foray into medicinal mushrooms began. Since then I have learned about different medicinal mushrooms and their benefits including reishi, lion mane and of course chaga. Getting this super food in as apart of a delicious drink recipe was appealing to me! I ordered some pure chaga extract powder from Vimery and was able to replicate the MM Recipe for Day 6 of the Medical Medium Recipe Challenge for the “Chaga Tea Latte”

Ingredients used: I used a Blend of almond,hazelnut and cashew milk, although MM recommends coconut milk, cinnamon, reishi extract powder and raw honey.

Chaga: According to the Medical Medium ” Chaga is an incredibly powerful medicinal mushroom that is highly sought after due to its phenomenal levels of antioxidants and healing properties. Chaga is rich in Vitamins A, C, B, D, and E and minerals such as manganese, iron, calcium, zinc, and selenium. It also contains potent anti-bacterial, anti-viral, anti-inflammatory, anti-microbial, anti-fungal, anti-candida, and anti-parasite properties. 

Chaga is one of the best sources of betulinic acid which is known to kill cancer cells on contact. Chaga is therefore often listed as one of the top anti-cancer and anti-tumor foods and is highly valued in a variety of natural cancer treatments and preventative protocols. Smooth nutty taste and incredibly nourishing! I give this recipe a solid 7 out of 10.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 5 – Lime Water

Seeing as how I was on the road and travelling over the weekend, I chose some of the simplest yet most effect recipes to try and taste.

For Day 5 of the October Medical Medium Recipe Challenge I chose Lime water. A tasty yet effect way to cleanse the system each and every morning!

Medical medium writes that “limes travel well, When you’re on the road, you an always throw a few limes into your bag so that you can make this hydrating drink anytime!” – this is what I was thinking! You can find this one in the Liver Rescue Book.

Ingredients used: Water and Limes

Limes: Limes remove toxins from the body and are incredibly hydrating. They are the perfect base for salad dressings and bring flavour to just about any recipe you could imagine! I personally love them especially in pico de gallo.

Medical Medium Recipe Challenge – October 4 – Apples with Caramel Dip

Hello everyone – time to play catch up with recipes <3 I had a fabulous few days away by the lake with my husband, Lola and parents but like I guessed – little reception and unable to do my blog posts!!

The Medical Medium Recipe Challenge is well under way and I have been enjoying all of the tasty, healthy new recipes.

For Day 4 (October 4th) of the October Medical Medium Recipe Challenge I made Apples with “caramel” dip for our breakfast.

Ingredients used: Apples, dates, cinnamon, water (and high powered blender)

Could it be any easier??

Apples: Sweet, delicious, so many varieties and full of immune boosting and disease preventing properties. According to Anthony Williams ” Apples are also an amazing detoxifier and contain both malic and tartaric acids that help remove impurities from the liver and gallbladder”.

Dates: Dates are an ideal food for improved energy and brain function. They are a good source of vitamin A & B-complex and they are rich in minerals such as iron, calcium, manganese, copper, and potassium. Dates are known to help build bone and muscle strength and have been used for thousands of years by athletes to improve physical endurance, agility, and stamina.

Dates contain anti-inflammatory and anti-infective properties which make it an excellent food for those who suffer with chronic infections and auto-immune disorders. They also help to control heart rate and blood pressure which offers protection against strokes and coronary heart diseases. Dates contain an easily digestible fiber that has been found to help prevent colon, prostate, lung, endometrial, breast, and pancreatic cancers. They are also known to help lower LDL (bad) cholesterol, relieve constipation, improve anemia, and prevent macular degeneration.
